This week's Global Podium for the best sportspeople in the world features the Emirates Team New Zealand, Rachael Blackmore and Julie Zogg.


Gold: Emirates Team New Zealand

Team New Zealand Successfully defended the America’s Cup by beating Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli (Italy) 7-3. Several of the crew members are repeat winners from four years ago, including 9-times World and once Olympic Champion Peter Burling (NZL) and 8-times World Champion and once Olympic Champion, Blair Tuke (NZL).

Silver: Rachael Blackmore

She won 6 races at the Cheltenham Festival. Only Ruby Walsh (IRL) has done better, with 7. Five were Grade 1 race wins: the Champion Hurdle, the Ballymore Novice Hurdle, the Champion Bumper, the Ryanair Chase, and the Triumph Hurdle. She also finished second in the Gold Cup and third in the Arkle Challenge Trophy. No other woman had ever finished in the top three of the Champion Hurdle or the Gold Cup.

Bronze: Julie Zogg
(Switzerland, Snowboard)

She won the FIS World Cup Women’s Parallel Slalom in Berchtesgaden (DEU) and finished third in the Mixed Relay. With the win she clinched her third Women’s Parallel Slalom World Cup title in a row and fourth total, more than anyone else in Parallel Slalom Snowboard.
