This week’s Global Podium for the best sportspeople in the world features Yukako Fukushima, Emily Pross, and Matt Smith.

GLOBAL PODIUM OF THE WEEK
Gold: Yukako Fukushima
(Japan, Powerlifting)

The six-times Word Games competitor won gold in the IPF World Equipped Open Powerlifting Championships, women’s -47 kg category. The 52-year-old lifted a total of 477.5 kilograms, more than ten times her body weight, and set a world record in the process. She also broke the World Records in the bench press and squat movements.
Silver: Emily Pross
(United States of America, Downhill Skateboarding)

Increased her legacy as the greatest female downhill skater, by taking her 7th World Championship, at the World Skates games Argentina 2022. She has been unbeaten in women’s heats for 6 years.
Bronze: Matt Smith
(United States of America, Motorcycling)

Matt Smith is now a six-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champion, meaning he is now joint first in the all-time Champions table in the category, along Dave Schultz (USA) and Andrew Hines (USA). He lost the semi-final round to Joey Gladstone (USA). The other NHRA Champions were Brittany Force (USA, Top Fuel), Erica Enders (USA, Pro Stock), and Ron Capps (USA, Funny Car).
