Australia has another multiple winner on the PGA Tour thanks to Matt Jones (AUS) achieving an absolutely dominant weekend at the Honda Classic, giving him his first Tour victory in seven years.
Jones said it’s the calmest thing he’s been on a golf course in a while. And he truly he looked calm. He had a final round of 68 for a cumulative -12, 5 strokes ahead of the rest of the field.
The dominance was total because from the very first day a round of 61 strokes was thrown -the best of the weekend- and that did not allow someone else to take the lead. Today he started very well too, making a 20-yard putt for the birdie and although he had 3 bogeys later they didn’t affect him much.
Brandon Hagy (USA) achieved his best PGA result with a second place finish. Tied for third place, 6 under par, Chase Seiffert (USA), Brendan Steele (USA), Denny McCarthy (USA), Russell Henley (USA) and C.T. Pan (TWN).
