Jesús “Tecatito” Corona (MEX) had a good game with Porto, that tied 1-1 against Benfica in the Portuguese Clásico, within the Primeira Liga.

Benfica scored first with a goal by Alejandro Grimaldo (ESP) at 17′. He crossed it with the left.

Corona was active from the beginning and he gave Mehdi Taremi (IRI) the pass to tie at minute 25′. Corona was very well positioned in the area and passed it to Mehdi, who shot it in.

Benfica kept on pressing but Porto was well positioned behind. At 35′ Corona generated another good play and passed it to Luis Díaz (COL) in the area but the South American barely missed it.

The tension rose in the second half and at 50′ there was a heated exchange where Pizzi (POR) threw Pepe (BRA) down.

Corona was the main victim of fouls against Porto and at 55′ he was attended for the fifth foul suffered in the match.

A couple of minutes later Pizzi directly kicked him and somehow he saved the expulsion. Corona centered the free kick very well but somehow it did not end in a goal. At 64′ the Mexican was shown the yellow card as well, for a foul.

Mehdi lost his head and at 71′ he entered violently directly with his cleats and he was expelled a couple of minutes later for another direct kick with the cleats, against Otamendi (ARG). Marega (MLI) was shown a yellow card for protesting and touching the referee. Corona asked him for a cold head.

The match ended 1-1. With this result Sporting Lisboa is still first with 36 points and now Benfica are second place due to a better goal advantage than Porto, third.

The Benfica manager, Jorge Jesus (POR), admitted that it was key to neutralize Corona, mainly due to his good positioning.
