Puerto Rico defeated Mexico 2-1, handcuffing their batters.

The Sportspedia

Puerto Rico will play the Final of the Caribbean Series against the Dominican Republic, after handcuffing Mexico in their Semifinal series.

The first three innings went very fast, with good pitches from Arredondo (MEX) and Medina (PUR).

In the fourth Ramiro Peña (MEX) stole second base. It was key. Elizalde hit a ground sacrifice to advance him to third and Joey Meneses hit a hit to give Mexico the lead.

Meneses also stole the second. What a way to play against Yadier Molina, one of the best catchers in history! But they did not succeed.

Fuentes turned the score around in the fourth down, with a home run for 1-2.

In the fifth, Medina missed by sending the ball too fast to first base to avoid a robbery threat from Jesús Castillo (MEX), who ended up going to third. They would not inflict damage.

The house was filled in the bottom of the sixth but Javier Arturo López (MEX) took out two in a row. There, Benjamín Gil called Sañudo to get the out and he also did it.

Fernando Salas also had a great job pitching, but Puerto Rico just knocked out Mexico’s hitters throughout the rest of the game and will play the Dominican Republic again.
