Real Madrid plays well when they need it to win 2-0.

The Sportspedia

This time Real Madrid did have a great match. Benzema (FRA) played well, Kroos very well (DEU).

The first big opportunity by Real Madrid was when Karim Benezema executed a mid-distance shot that Jan Oblak (SLO) saved to avoid the 1-0.

That would not last for long, as Toni Kroos centered a corner kick that Casemiro (BRA) easily found for a header, since Héctor Herrera (MEX) just totally lost the mark. The Mexican had his first match as a starting player in a while and he was out of rhythm and fell more than he should have. Renan Lodi (BRA) substituted him for the second half.

In the second, Atlético’s Hermoso (ESP) made a mistake in a pass and Correa (ARG) took Kroos down right outside of the area in order to avoid a potential goal. He was shown the yellow card and Sergio Ramos took the free kick, which ended on the barrier.

The second was a brilliant goa by Carvajal, who received it with the chest, let it bounce and then shot a ball that hit the post, then the keeper and then went in. In the other side, it was until the 35′ of the second half that Courtois (BEL) had to work with a great save.

Goals Real Madrid: Casemiro (BRA) at 15′, Oblak (SLO) at 63′ (own goal)
