Tina Hermann (DEU) won her third Skeleton World Championship in a row and her fourth overall, both sports records, for women. This time she won at Altenberg (DEU).

Hermann had a very bad first run but the other three were excellent and she was climbing to second after three descents and she overtook Jacqueline Lölling (DEU) for gold on the last pass.

The bronze went to Elena Nikitina (RUS), who could not compete under the Russian flag due to the country’s suspension for doping.
