Tyler Hatton (ENG) won the first tournament of the year on the European Tour, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. This is the fourth tournament he has won in his last 20.
Hatton was playing very well on his approach and also minimized the number of Bogeys.
A key hole was the 10th, as he scored an eagle there on the first day and a birdie on the other three. Today he had a particularly difficult birdie and he holed it anyway.
Hatton closed 18 shots under par, 4 ahead of Jason Scrivener (AUS), who had his best finish in a tournament.
It was good to see Rory McIlroy (IRL) at a good level of golf, because last year he had a bad season. He was third, thirteen under par, ahead of Rafael Cabrera Bello (ESP).
Notoriously, Justin Thomas (USA) was one shot shy from making the cut.
