In the first half’s added time, Icardi was close again. He shot from outside the box and the ball hit the bar.
At 84′ the referees revised the VAR and a penalty was awarded to PSG. It was determined that goalkeeper Alberto Paleari (ITA) had fouled in the area. Neymar (BRA) did not forgive and he scored.
Dimitri Payet (FRA) scored right before the end of regulation time and gave Marseille some hope.
But it was futile. The team from the capital won the Trophée des Champions for a tenth time, more than any other team.
