Leinster beats Ulster by 24-12 and there are no more unbeaten teams in Pro14 Rugby.

The Sportspedia

Just last week, Leinster saw their unbeaten record at Pro14 Rugby come to and end after having been beaten by Connacht, 24-35. Now they were on a mission to take Ulster’s unbeaten record (10-0) and leave no unbeaten teams in the league.

Ulster beat the other still-unbeaten team last week, Munster, by 15-10. So basically with a win today, Ulster would prove that they are the best Pound for Pound team in Pro14 Rugby at the moment.

Ulster was leading after the first half but a good try by Seán Cronin (IRL) with a powerful scrum that was pushed all the way after the line gave Leinster the 10-9 and a conversion by Johnny Sexton (IRL) for the 12-9.

Leinster kept on pressing with a good use of lateral passes and pick and goes that culminated with a try by Robbie Henshaw (IRL) at 52′. And a minute after Sexton’s failed conversion attempt Leinster was close to scoring position back again.

At 69′ John Cooney (IRL) scored his fourth penalty for Ulster to get closer 17-12. All those 12 scored with Cooney’s kicks.

A good driving line by Leinster launched James Tracy (IRL) to yet another score for Leinster that almost ensured their win with five minutes to go. The final score was 24-12.

With this result there are no more unbeaten teams in Pro14. Ulster leads with 10 wins and a loss, ahead of Leinster, that has 8 wins and a loss but evidently with two less matches.
