With a 2-2 draw against River Plate, Boca leads the Copa Diego Armando Maradona Group A.

The Sportspedia

Argentinian Copa Diego Armando Maradona had a good Súperclásico match between Boca Juniors and River Plate. With this 2-2 draw, both teams have 8 points and are fighting for the top of Championship Group A (of which only the winner will make it to the Final). Boca leads so far thanks to a better goal difference.

River Plate looked better in general during the first half but at 10′ Ramón “Wanchope” Ávila (ARG) scored after a crossed pass by Emmanuel Más (ARG) and that way Boca Juniors took the early advantage.

Jorman Campuzano (COL, Boca Juniors) elbowed Jorge Andrés Carrascal (COL, River Plate) but somehow he avoided being red-carded. Carrascal himself was deservedly shown the yellow card later for a tackle from behind.

At 13′ of the second half Campuzano was finally expelled for yet another aggression, this time with the hand. He was playing extra time anyway.

In the second, Boca was arriving to the area more than River even though River had more possession.

At 30′ of the second half Girotti (ARG) threw himself for the ball and connected it with a header in the first clear chance that the team had to equalize the score.

A couple of minutes later Borré (COL) gave River the advantage with another header after four touches stemming off a corner.

At 34′ of the second half, Enzo Pérez (ARG) received a second yellow due to a late tackle and now the game was 10 versus 10.

Boca kept on making it to the box and Villa (COL) scored the equalizer by crossing it.
