Martins Dukurs (LVA) was 11th. Alexander Gassner with the gold.

The Sportspedia

At last Martins Dukurs (LVA) was defeated! The Latvian had dominated in this World Cup and for the first time was left off the podium, on the Königssee (DEO) round of the Skeleton World Cup. He was actually relegated to eleventh place.

Dukurs crashed and was relegated behind Alexander Tretyakov (RUS), who had started earlier. Grotheer (DEU), the World Champion, also failed to beat the Russian. Jungk (DEU) neither … He would end up fourth.

Then Marcus Wyatt (ENG, GBR) would come and he was close to being faster but his final pace was not that good and he did not manage to displace the Russian either. He would be 5th in the end.

Alexander Gassner (DEU) was also quicker at the start and he did remain the leader until the end.

Sungbin Yun (KOR), Olympic Champion, was faster than Gassner for most of his run but did not beat Gassner, who took the gold, over Yun and Tretyakov.

It was a great day for the local Skeleton, as Germany took gold in both men and women. It would not be a surprise of they do the same in Skeleton.
