The Dakar Rally’s last stage in cars registered a result that was a permutation of the overall top 3: Sainz (ESP) won over Al-Attiyah (QAT) and Peterhansel (FRA).
Stéphane Peterhansel and Edouard Boulanger (FRA) won the overall in a Mini. “Monsieur Dakar” has now won the Dakar Rally a record 14 times, 8 of them in cars. More than anyone else in both cases.
Al Attiyah and Matthireu Baumel (FRA) were second place overall, ahead of Carlos Sainz/Lucas Cruz (ESP), Jakub Prszygonski (POL)/Timo Gottschalk (DEU) and Nani Roma (ESP)/Alexandre Winocq (FRA).
Two cars finished in the Production category and the best were Akira Miura (JAP) and Laurent Lichteuter (FRA) in a Toyota. It is their second T2 victory.
Marco Piana (FRA) and David Giovannetti (ITA) were the only classified crew in the “Special Assistance Vehicles” category.
