Sassuolo 1-0 Benevento.

The Sportspedia

It look like Sassuolo is not a mirage in the Italian Serie A (association football) and they remain second after their eleventh game, although their Champions League-qualifying rivals are still yet to play their matches (they will do so over the weekend).

Nevertheless it is important to mention that against bigger rivals Sassuolo has not had a great result. They lost 0-3 to Inter Milan and they drew 0-0 o Roma before this game.

Benevento pressed a lot during this game and especially so after they found themselves with a one-man advantage as Lukáš Haraslín (SVK) was expelled (48′). A great shot by Iago Falque (ESP, Benevento) hit the crossbar with a few minutes remaining. Benevento had several chances they missed.

At 92′ Consigli saved a ball that was almost in when the ball was sent to teh area. Benevento kept on pressing and even with twelve men on the area, the ball just bounced off. Today Sassuolo was destined to be, at least for one night, second in the Serie A.

The lone goal was by Berardi (ITA) at 8′, with a penalty kick. Benevento is nos 13th in the Serie A.
