This week’s Global Podium for the best sportspeople in the world features Sifan Hassan, Hannah Roberts and Satomi Kana.

The Sportspedia’s Global Podium features the three sportspeople/athletes or teams that best achieved excellence in performance last week through their milestones and results.

Gold: Sifan Hassan
(Netherlands, Athletics)

Hassan broke the 10,000 meters female World Record by over 10 seconds with a time of the five year-old 29:06.82 to win gold at the FBK Games, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meet. With the record she now held the World Record in the mile, one hour event, road 5km and 10,000 meters.

We mention “held” because as we were finalizing this publication Letesenbet Gidey (ETH) broke Hassan’s World Record, just 2 days later, on the same track. A natural candidate for next week’s Global Podium!
