A draw by Lyon give them the lead. It was almost a triple tie.

For a second time this week, Ligue 1 decided to hold a matchday with most of its games at the same time, meaning the action of different matches had to be followed at the same time.

For much of the matchday, the combination of results indicated that we would have a triad of teams tied with the maximum number of points, at 39, and it almost did.

Lille had the obligation of beating last-placed Nîmes after losing their lead last Wednesday due to their defeat 1-2 against Angers. This would not repeat, indeed. Burak Yılmaz (TUR) scored at 29′ to give Lille the advantage they would hold on until the end.

Paris Saint-Germain scored first against Brest with a goal by Bioty Moise Kean (ITA) to take the early advantage and they found two consecutive goals in the later part of the second half, thanks to Mauro Icardi (ARG) and Pablo Sarabia (ESP), two players that entered as substitutes, and they worked. This result took Paris Saint-Germain to 39 points as well.

Finally, Olympique Lyonnais were also part of this triad on 39 points for the majority of their game because Rennes scored at 20′ and 55′ but Lyon did not allow the triple tie to happen so fast: Memphis Depay (NED) and Jason Grégory Marianne Denayer (BEL) scored at 79′ and 82′ respectively to give their team the draw that would stand until the end.

This combination of results means that Lyon are first with 40 points and thanks to the goal difference, PSG is second and Lille third. The UEFA Champions League give two spots to this tournament, meaning Lille would go to the Europa League for the moment.

Next week Angers faces PSG, Lille faces Reims and Lyon faces Metz, in the games involving top 3 teams.
