The Águilas Cibaeñas, representing the Dominican Republic League, won the Caribbean Series 2021 with an unbeaten record of 7-0, after defeating Puerto Rico (Criollos de Caguas) in the Final, 1-4.

Their 7-0 record surpasses what any other team has done before, for while there have been other undefeated teams, none went with a seven-game series.

The Mexican-American, Boston Red Sox prospect Jarren Duran has had a great Caribbean Series. He made himself felt in this Final by driving the first for Puerto Rico, in the fifth inning.

But the lead didn’t last a full inning, as Camargo tied in the fifth and then the Dominican scored two again in the sixth. Juan Lagares, one of the best in this series, scored after a Guzmán ground. Guzman also made it 4-1, in the eighth inning.

Puerto Rico failed to score in the ninth and thus the Águilas Cibaeñas achieved their sixth title, which places them in second place in history as a club, in the Caribbean Series. Los Tigres de Licey, also Dominican, have ten titles.
